Car Setup

Car setup refers to the configuration of a Formula 1 car's adjustable components to optimise performance for a specific circuit and conditions. Setup parameters include: wing angles (affecting downforce and drag), ride height (affecting ground effect and aerodynamic balance), spring and damper settings (affecting handling), anti-roll bar settings (affecting cornering balance), differential settings (affecting traction and stability), and tyre pressures and camber angles. Finding the optimal setup is a complex process that involves balancing competing requirements — more downforce improves cornering but reduces straight-line speed; lower ride height improves ground effect but risks bottoming out. Teams use practice sessions to evaluate different setup options and find the best compromise.
